His Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed Lam Dorji Rinchen as the new Drabi Lopen, now to be called the Tshogki Lopen yesterday.
Venerable Tshogki Lopen, Dorji Rinchen, 48, is from Wangduephodrang. He will head the division in-charge of periodic religious services and ceremonies within and outside the Dzong pertaining to the welfare of both the living and the deceased.
The Venerable Lopen joined the Wangdue Dratshang as a novice monk at the age of seven. He also studied at Tango Buddhist College. He received teachings from renowned Buddhist masters like the Late Je Khenpo Geshey Gedun Rinchen, Khenpo Kuenga Wangchuk and His Holiness Dilgo Khentse Rinpoche.
Prior to his present appointment, he served as the principal of the Dechenphodrang monastic school in Thimphu.
