Zeus, a Civil Society Organisation dedicated to dog welfare, inaugurated the Zeus Nakulu Dog Shelter today at Jizhigang in Paro’s Dopshari Gewog. The shelter, well-furnished and spacious, was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Younten Phuntsho.

It currently houses over 260 stray dogs collected from Paro town, tourist hotspots, and strategic areas like schools and hospitals.

Records with the Department of Livestock show that Paro district has one of the highest dog populations in the country, nearing 14,000 with half of them being stray dogs.
