The National Council has deferred the ratification of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement (TECA) between Thailand and Bhutan.
The House was skeptical of further developing trade and economic relation with Thailand with some members saying it would do more harm than good.
While the Economic Affairs Minister said further strengthening trade relation with Thailand would help develop Bhutan’s Foreign Direct Investment, the eminent member, Tashi Wangyal, argued that the benefits would be minimal.
The House, however, ratified the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
