The National Council while deliberating on the National Budget 2020-2021 yesterday, applauded the government’s decision of handing over the mining rights to the State Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL). The members suggested that the government should continue with the decision until the house passes the Mines and Minerals Bill 2020.

SMCL was incorporated as a DHI company in December 2014. It was established as a designated body by the government to develop and manage strategic minerals.
