A junior national badminton training camp is underway in Phuentsholing. Twenty two badminton players aged 12 to 18 years from five Dzongkhags are taking part in the camp.
The National Coach, Thinley Wangdi, said the training would help children to prepare for the upcoming international youth festival, which will be held in the mid of this year at Hiroshima in Japan. The international youth festival will be organized by the Olympic Asia Council. Six participants will represent Bhutan at the festival with financial support from Bhutan Olympic Committee. Participants will also have a chance to participate at the junior Asian Badminton Championship in India and Malaysia.
According to the organiser such camps were aimed to help youth refrain from unhealthy activities since most of the youth gather in Phuentsholing at this time of the year.
The month long camp is being organised by the Bhutan Badminton Federation with support from Bhutan Olympic Committee.
