The National Assembly session yesterday saw the minister for Works and Human Settlement being questioned on the status of the construction of bridge over Singyechhu between Rinchending and Pasakha.

The bridge was due to complete last year. Phuentshogling MP Rinzin Dorji raised concerns over the delay particularly with monsoon fast approaching.

Works and Human Settlement Minister agreed the bridge construction has taken a long time. Lyonpo said the government has written to DANTAK and stressed the importance of completing the bridge as soon as possible.

Lyonpo added the bridge is almost complete now. Only the approach road to the bridge is not ready. Lyonpo also said there are also quality issues and that it will be discussed with the contractor.

Phuentshogling MP also raised concerns over the carrying capacity of the bridge. To this, Lyonpo said the hydropower projects have used  bridge to transport construction materials. Therefore, Lyonpo said the bridge carrying capacity should not be a problem.
