A book titled ‘My Green School: An Outline’will soon be made available in all schools across the country. Authored by Thakur Singh Powdyel, the former education minister and an educator, the book is designed to support the implementation of the ‘Educating for Gross National Happiness’, an educational reform initiative launched in December 2009.
Thakur Singh Powdyel says the initiative of Educating for Gross National Happiness, which is to be achieved by building green schools, is an effort to embrace and advance Bhutan’s development philosophy of Gross National Happiness.
“The green school programmes is a tool to help us understand the core function of education,” said the former minister.
Thakur S Powdyel emphasised ‘My Green School’ is just an outline and that he hopes the teachers and educators would be able to elaborate the elements of green school.
