Ten of the 12 students of Nganglam Higher Secondary School in Pemagatshel who were admitted at the basic health unit were discharged as of today. They were admitted after suffering from symptoms like fever, stomach ache, diarrhoea and vomiting on May 13. Currently, only two students are still kept under observation.
An investigation team from the Public Health Department in Thimphu and the health workers at Nganglam are investigating the case and carrying out check-ups of all the students in the school. The Medical Officer, Dr. Letho, said it is difficult to identify the main cause of the sickness.
“But we think it is due to diet. Since investigation is still undergoing it is difficult for us to jump to conclusion. We are carrying out the laboratory test and it will take time for us to know the exact cause,” he added
