The Japanese government today extended a grant assistance of about Nu. 7 million to the Fire Service Division of the Royal Bhutan Police and Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag. The grant was extended under “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects” scheme.

The formal signing took place at the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, between Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan Mr. Akitaka Saiki and Ambassador of Bhutan to Japan Vetsop Namgyel.

For the Royal Bhutan Police, the grant will be used to strengthen the fire fighting services. In Trashi Yangtse, the grant will be used to meet the pressing demand for reliable, easy access and enough safe drinking water supply for the students and patients at the hospital. It will also be used to support the construction of water-supply system for Tshenkharla village.
