Monitoring the management of industrial waste is a major challenge the Environment Unit of the Department of Trade faces. In their effort to tackle the challenge, the department in collaboration with the National Environment Commission is carrying out sensitisation and awareness workshop in Waste Prevention and Management Regulation 2012 with reference to the industrial wastes.
The four-day training programme began today in Phuentsholing. Forty six participants from the private sector and environment inspectors from the six regional trade and industry offices are taking part in the program.
The training programme is also to build capacity on environmental clearance processes and compliance monitoring.
