Monggar Dzongkhag emerged the winner of the National Taekwondo Championship, which was held in the capital, over the past two days. The Dzongkhag received a cash prize of Nu.20,000.
The second in place was the Thimphu Dzongkhag and was awarded a cash prize of Nu.15,000. Chhukha Dzongkhag came in third place and took away a cash prize of Nu.10,000.
A total of 11 Dzongkhags participated in the tournament. Organised by Bhutan Taekwondo Federation and Bhutan Olympic Committee, it was mainly to select the National players for Asian Games, which will be held in South Korea, next year.
Meanwhile, an open National Badminton Championship was held in the capital. Kapil Chhetri won the Men Singles. Eden won the Women Singles.
Karma Lhamo and Muku Pelden won the Women Doubles Category and Hari Gurung and Sonam Jigme won the Men Doubles.
