The Economic Affairs Ministry is planning to propose lifting the ban on the issuance of new bar licenses in the country. This was shared by the Economic Affairs Minister during the question hour session of the National Assembly. While responding to a question raised by Chummig Ura’s Member of Parliament, the minister said the decision was made after several studies done by the ministry.
Issuance of new bar licenses was banned in 2010.
“Our studies are based on data and evidence. And the present government will definitely approve if it is data and evidence-based. By the end of this year, the National Strategic Framework to Reduce Harmful Use of Alcohol (2015-2020), the policy will come to an end. And the ministry is prepared and we will submit to the cabinet with data as per rule and regulations,” said Loknath Sharma, the Economic Affairs Minister.
