Bhutan and Bangladesh sign first-ever PTA

The first-ever Preferential Trade Agreement between Bhutan and Bangladesh was signed yesterday. The Two Prime Ministers, ministers and senior government officials from the two countries graced the event virtually.

With the signing of the agreement, Bhutan will have duty free export of 16 products in addition to the already existing 18 products to Bangladesh. Likewise, 10 more products from Bangladesh will have duty free export to Bhutan, in addition to the already 90 existing products. Currently, Bangladesh-Bhutan trade operates under the Bilateral Trade Agreement signed in 1980.

The day also marks 50 years of friendship between the two countries.
