A 31-year-old suspect is under Lhuentse police custody for allegedly forging a gup’s signature to withdraw about Nu 140,000.
The man is said to have withdrawn the amount from a gewog’s account which was registered with the Bank of Bhutan in Lhuentse.
The suspect told the police he withdrew twice from the bank after forging the signature.
He is also accused of failing to deposit rural tax collected from the people of his gewog, last year.
Police said the gewog even imposed a penalty and warned the suspect several times.
The man was arrested, last week.
