Dorokha Dungkhag Court

In Samtse, Dorokha Dungkhag Court sentenced a 24-year-old man to 16 years in prison for stabbing his mother to death. The incident happened in Dophuchen Gewog in March, this year.

The convict confessed before the court that he acted on an impulse of anger. The deceased had scolded her son, who, at that time was sleeping. He was also asked to go to kitchen and start a fire in the traditional mud oven. As per the court’s verdict passed on Friday, the convict, before the incident happened, had bought a shank knife from a shop with the intention to kill his mother.

The convict fled the scene after the incident and threw the knife below the road. However, he was arrested on the same evening. Officials from the gewog administration said the deceased died on the way to the Basic Health Unit.
