Police in Trashigang have arrested a 47-year-old man suspected of murdering his 40-year-old cousin sister.
The murder took place on December 31 in Thongrong village under Phongmey Geog in Trashigang.
Her body was found buried 250 metres from the crime scene.
The suspect and his cousin had a long standing enmity. They also had a land dispute case with the Trashigang district court.
The suspect has reportedly confessed to the murder.
He told police that he had a quarrel with the deceased on that day. When she tried to hit him with a stone, he snatched the stone and hit her on the head. The deceased collapsed and died on the spot.
Since there was no one at that time, he dragged the body and buried it.
The case will be forwarded to the Trashigang district court where he will be charged with involuntary manslaughter.
