A 66-year old man is under police custody in Lhuentse for allegedly killing a 84-year-old woman on April 10. The incident happened in Khoma gewog.
Police say the victim, who was the suspect’s neighbour, died after consuming Coca-Cola juice, allegedly laced with insecticide by the suspect.
According to the police, the suspect had allegedly sent the juice to his wife. The suspect’s wife had been living in the neighbour’s house during the time of the incident due to domestic problems between the couple.
Sources say the wife had shared the contaminated juice with the victim and her two daughters, after consuming a little herself.
The suspect’s wife and the daughters of the victim are currently in stable condition. Police are investigating the case.
