The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay spent the entire day visiting various places in the Indian state of Gujurat, including the birth place of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay first visited the Toranas of Vadnagar where he was received by the elder brother of Narendra Modi, Somabhai Modi.
Toranas, the victory arches are a symbol of victory. They are the most prominent monuments of Vadnagar. The structure is built in red and yellow sandstone without any cementing material.
Lyonchhen’s next stop was the site of an old Buddhist temple in Vadnagar.
“I begin my spiritual journey here, in Gujarat, in Vadnagar. And I am very happy to be here. I want to thank you for a very warm welcome and specially be to be able to meet Som Bhai, the elder brother of Modiji, and to see the Buddhist temples and Buddhist sites.”
Lyonchhen said he is happy to be able to experience Vadnagar.
Lyonchhen’s next stop was the Himalaya food processing plant in Vadnagar. There Lyonchhen was given a tour of the plant and inspected the Button mushroom growing section of the plant.
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay also visited the Tech City GIFT.
The Gujarat International Financial Tech City was started when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. It will take 100 years to complete. It is expected to generate over a million jobs.
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay then flew to Charanka where he visited the largest Solar Park in Asia. The 220-Megawatt solar energy power plant lies in over 5,000 acres of unused land.
It was constructed in 2011. It is purely green and cost the government of Gujarat over Rs.45 M.
Lyonchhen’s final stop was the Handloom- Handicraft show in Ahmedabad. There Lyonchhen visited various stalls. He received gifts from the vendors and also received gifts from the organizers of the show.
Different handicrafts including, embroidery, painting, weaving, pottery and carving were showcased at the show.
In the meantime, Lyonchhen’s speech at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit yesterday got him many fans. Local media followed him everywhere.
Lyonchhen also meet the Secretary of the State, John Kerry and UN’s Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, on the sidelines of the summit.
