MoLHR-QatarCaseLabour ministry has started a probe to determine whether more than 50 Bhutanese were not paid their monthly salary in Qatar.

The Bhutanese, working for Quality Hyper Market in Qatar, supposedly did not receive salary since March, this year.

“As we heard about the case, we immediately started inquiry. We called up the Kuwait embassy…” said labour minister, Ngeema Sangay Tshempo.

Lyonpo said they are working closely with the foreign ministry and trying to send an officer to Qatar to investigate and see how the ministry could intervene.

The labour ministry will also re-look at overseas employment’s rules and regulations.
