Residents in Kabesa have been complaining about the condition of the bridge in Pangrizampa, Thimphu.
The bridge connects Kabesa with Dechencholing and to the capital town. It is the only means of communication for Kabesa residents.
Built in 2007, the bridge is riddled with so many holes, motorists and pedestrians are concerned about its safety.
“Small cars can cross easily but the bigger vehicles cannot,” said Tshering Samdrup.
“There is a lot of construction going on and heavy vehicles carrying construction material are damaging the bridge,” said another resident.
The Kawang Gup, Sonam Dorji, said the issue has been discussed during the Dzongkhag Yargay Tshogdu (the district development committee) meeting last year.
“During the Dzongkhag Yargay Tshogdu meeting, we invited officials from Department of Roads. They agreed to repair it soon by laying wooden planks and covering them with tar. They also had a plan to build a bigger bridge in the future.”
There are 700 households under Kawang Gewog.
