Je Khenpo appoints new General Secretary of Zhung Dratshang

  His Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed 50-year-old Passang from Paro as the General Secretary of the Zhung Dratshang(Central Monastic Body). His Holiness conferred the Tashi Lekdhar to the new General Secretary at Tashichhodzong this morning.

Lopen Passang joined the monastic body after completing class ten in 1986. He completed his studies from Tango University of Buddhist Studies and served as the head of Dodeydra Shedra in Thimphu for 10 years. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the manager of Religion and Health Project under the Central Monastic Body.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo also conferred Toedsi Jim, a form of promotion to Lam Sherab Dorji at the Tashichhodzong today. The 50-year-old Lam is from Pema Gatshle and has closely worked with His Holiness the 68th Je Thrizur Tenzin Dondrup for several years. He is presently serving as the Child Care and Protection Officer under the Dratshang Lhentshog.
