A five-month-old infant was airlifted this morning around 11 AM to Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital in Thimphu from Samtse.
The male infant was brought from Norbugang to Samtse Hospital at 3 AM today with respiratory distress and severe pneumonia.
A doctor-on-duty had requested the medical emergency evacuation from the Royal Bhutan Helicopter Service (RBHS) after the infant’s condition deteriorated critically.
This is the third time, this year, RBHS has airlifted patients. The other two services went to Bumthang yesterday, according to the Department of Medical Services.
The Royal Bhutan Helicopter Services was launched in November last year by the Prime Minister.
