Tremors from the 6.7 earthquake, which struck northeast India, damaged three houses in Gomdar, Wangphu and Phuentshogthang Gewogs under Samdrup Jongkhar. The quake, with its epicentre about 29 km northwest of Indian state of Manipur, struck at 5:05 AM BST.
Our Samdrup Jongkhar’s correspondent, Kinley Wangchuk said major portion of the walls of the three houses sustained damages.
No causalities have been reported so far.
In Pema Gatshel, the tremors caused cracks on the walls of 17 houses in Chongshing, Khar, Yurung and Zobel Gewogs.
No major damages were reported in the dzongkhag. The dzongkhag administration is currently assessing the extent of damages.
Cracks on the walls of four houses in Tashiding and Goshi Gewogs of Dagana were also reported following the tremor.
In India, according to the Press Trust of India, at least six people have been killed and more than 30 injured.
In Bangladesh, three people have been reported dead while dozens are being treated in hospital for injuries sustained during the quake.
