Illegal red sandalwood confiscated

Illegal red sandalwood confiscatedOfficials from the Paro Divisional Forest and Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Park confiscated a pick-up truck, loaded with illegal red sandalwood. The vehicle was caught at around 1:20am yesterday from Metse under Tsento Gewog in Paro.

A total of 54 pieces weighing around 600 kilograms have been seized. The offender will be fined Nu. 500,000. The owner of the vehicle will also be fined the amount equal to the value of the illegal timber which comes to Nu. 450,000.
