Hundreds of vehicles are stranded at Thumangdrak in Trongsa following a road block this afternoon.

The block occurred after a large number of boulders rolled down the hillside. The slide was apparently triggered by the road widening work.

The site manager said they could remove the boulders today even with the help of excavators. He said additional labourers and excavators will be deployed overnight to clear the roadblock by 6am tomorrow.

The road widening works at Thumangdrak began five months ago. It is being carried out by the Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited.

Thumangdrak is located some 15 kilometers from Trongsa towards Thimphu.
