HRH Gyaltshab graces new Terminal Building inauguration at Paro airport His Royal Highness the Gyaltshab, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck , accompanied by Ashi Yeatso Lhamo, graced the inauguration of the new Arrival Terminal Building at Paro International Airport today. The event was a tribute to the commemoration of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

His Royal Highness was received with a Chipdrel procession by the officials of Ministry of Information and Communications, Department of Air Transport and Paro Dzongkhag. The programme included Trashi Rabney of the new Arrival Terminal Building, offering of Zhabten to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo and Zhabten to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, unveiling of the inaugural plaque, opening of the new Arrival Terminal and cultural programme.

Indian Ambassador Gautam Bambawale, DANTAK’s Chief Engineer Brigadier Kumar C Panchanathan, information and communications minister, DN Dhungyel, works and human settlement minister, Dorji Choden, economic affairs minister, Norbu Wangchuk and other government officials also attended the function.

A press release says the establishment of new separate Arrival Terminal building at Paro International Airport is timely as it would ease the congestion of air passengers since the current terminal building, which houses both the arrival and departure terminals, has reached the full capacity.

The new structure has been constructed at the cost of Nu. 342 M with the support of the Government of India. The construction works started in June 2013 and completed in November 2015.
