As much as people go knocking from door-to-door, one building to another looking and inquiring for a vacant apartment, they are also availing themselves of the online services for the same purpose. The housing.bt is one such web-based platform.

Within its first year of operation, more than 8,000 users have registered for the service.

The website is a Thimphu and Paro based real estate search portal that allows customers to search for the housing based on location, number of rooms, and other necessary filters.

Since its inception, the online service has catered to around 1,500 individuals.

It also helps those marketing or looking for real estate and is also involved in building repair, maintenance, and home moving facilities.

“Now for those who actually avail our property management services we collect the rents, we screen the tenants, we file the taxes for them and any disputes arising, we actually represent them to Thimphu Thromde and to dispute settlement area,” said the founder of the housing.bt, Jigme Tenzin.

So far, 256 house owners, mostly people living abroad, have availed themselves of the property management services.

The services, currently limited to Thimphu and Paro, will soon be expanded to districts as well.
