His Majesty The King graced the closing ceremony of the 10th session of the third Parliament today. Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen and members of the Royal family also attended the closing ceremony.
At the closing session, the Prime Minister, the Chairperson of the National Council, the Opposition Leader, and the Speaker expressed their gratitude to His Majesty The King for the unwavering and extensive undertakings in safeguarding the country.
“His Majesty undertook visits to every part of the country during the pandemic, alleviating the challenges faced by the people and granting Kidus,” said Dr Lotay Tshering, the Prime Minister.
“As our country is currently undergoing various transformations, under the leadership and guidance of His Majesty, we are grateful and committed to serve the country during this period,” said Sangay Dorji, the Chairperson of the National Council.
“Under the leadership of His Majesty The King, we were able to strengthen our foreign relations with India and other countries, for which, we are grateful,” said Dorji Wangdi, the Opposition Leader.
“In order to equip our youths with invaluable life skills for a prosperous future, we offer our humble prayers for the success of the Gyalsung – National Service,” said Wangchuk Namgyel, the Speaker.
The 10th session of the third parliament adopted the Biological Corridor Nine Bill, the Agreement on the Movement of Traffic-in-Transit between The People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Charter and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
During the joint sitting of the parliament, recommendations on the Performance Audit Report on the Irrigation Systems and for the preparedness of cyber security were adopted.
The parliamentarians along with members of the Central Monastic Body offered Tashi Moenlam to His Majesty The King.
