HM Grants Audience to DeSuups and othersThe people of Bhutan, represented by the Prime Minister and Lhengye, Pungthim Dratshang, Heads of Armed Forces and Constitutional Bodies, Centenary Farmers, Taxi Drivers, Trongsa Penlop Scholars, and Desuups, offered wishes to His Majesty the King for His Majesty’s 35th Birth Anniversary at the Lingkana Palace yesterday.

In the afternoon, His Majesty the King granted an Audience to the volunteers who participated in the 14th DeSuung Training Programme at Lungtenphu. His Majesty was accompanied by Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen.

In an hour-long Audience with the DeSuups, His Majesty described the vision with which DeSuung had been established- to nurture citizens who would serve with loyalty and dedication for the benefit of the country, people and the future of Bhutan.

His Majesty shared the various kinds of challenges that Bhutan is faced with today.

The 77 men and 39 women volunteers completed their three-week training in Tencholing, Wangduephodrang on 7th February, bringing the total number of DeSuups in the country to 1,644.

His Majesty also granted dinner to the Senior Executive Leadership Programme (SELP) Alumni from the Royal Institute of Governance and
Strategic Studies (RIGSS).

SELP is the flagship leadership development programme in RIGSS, designed for senior public service officials and corporate executives. RIGSS, which is located in Phuentsholing, was established upon the Royal Command of His Majesty the King, to promote excellence in governance, leadership and strategic studies.
