His Majesty graces the parliament’s closing

His Majesty the King graced the closing session of the fourth session of the second parliament, this morning.

The speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairperson of the National Council received His Majesty at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang.

During the session, the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay thanked His Majesty for the peace and prosperity the people of the country enjoy under His Majesty’s leadership. Lyonchhen also thanked His Majesty for further strengthening the good relation between Bhutan and India.

He also expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King for granting census to over 8,500 people and providing daily salary to some 848 elderly people in the country, granting kidu to landless people.

During the almost a month-long session, the Parliament passed several important bills. Local Government Amendment bill, Local Government Members Entitlement bill, Tenancy Amendment bill, National Assembly and National Council Amendment bills are some of the endorsed bills.
