His Majesty The King graced the opening ceremony of the eighth session of the second parliament, this morning. His Majesty was received with a traditional chipdrel ceremony at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang.
Upon arrival at the courtyard, His Majesty was received in traditional Chipdrel ceremony by the Prime Minister, National Assembly Speaker, Opposition Leader, National Council Chairperson, Cabinet Ministers and the Members of Parliament.
The National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Zangpo, on behalf of the parliamentarians, expressed gratitude to His Majesty for gracing the ceremony and for His Majesty’s unwavering and continuous support.
The Parliament will deliberate the Bhutan Red Cross Society Bill, Two international conventions, and reports by some of the committees of the parliament.
The opening session was also graced by Her Royal Highnesses, Princess, Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck.
The discussion on the agenda formally begins from Monday and the session will end on December 9.
