weringla-dungkhag-without-a-dungpa Weringla Dungkhag in Monggar has not had a Dungpa for almost over one and a half years. The last Dungpa was transferred from Weringla in April, last year.

The dungkhag was established in 2005 to make administrative tasks easier for the two remote gewogs of Gongdue and Silambi.weringla-dungkhag-without-a-dungpa

But with no head to execute such tasks, the purpose of the dungkhag has been defeated.

The office, which had more staff before, has now only a handful of them.

“It is convenient if there is Dungpa as there will be proper work decorum maintained in the office. Without one, it is difficult to make other colleagues work,” said the Officiating Dungpa and Administrative Assistant, Tshering Chophel.

People of Gongdue and Silambi fear the Dungkhag will be done away with if a replacement is not sent sooner.

They said without a Dungkhag, they will have to travel all the way to Monggar for official work.

According to the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC), the Organizational Development exercise had recommended that the Dungkhag was not required.

However, the RCSC said they are in discussion with the home ministry about the replacement.

The home ministry, on the other hand, said they are waiting for the Cabinet’s directive.

The ministry had requested to RCSC for a replacement earlier.
