His Majesty the King graced the Kagong Phurzum ceremony at the Memorial Chorten today.
The annual prayer ceremony is organised in the memory of Late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
His Majesty the King lit the butter lamp in front of the portrait of the Late King and offered prayers in his memory and for the peace and happiness of the people of the country.
His Majesty interacted with the public and with the members of the Wangchuck Jeydren Tshokpa- the organising committee of this annual prayer ceremony.
His Majesty was accompanied by Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen.
Present at the ceremony were also members of the royal family, former royal retainers and retired government officials. Late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck passed away in 1972. He is remembered as the father of modern Bhutan.
