Shingkhar Choeling Goenba in Yangneer under Trashigang was completely damaged by an earthquake in 2009. Three years after the incident, the Lhakhang has been has been restored to its former glory. Thanks to the local people who contributed manpower. The government had provided funds for the reconstruction.
Shingkhar Choeling Goenba was built by Lama Sonam Zangpo during 19th century.
The reconstruction of the Lhakhang started eight months after it was damaged. The works lasted for about a year.
Three other Lhakhangs damaged during the 2009 earthquake have also been renovated.
