His Majesty confers orange scarf and appoints a privy councillor and dzongdas

HM appoints Privy Council Members-,

His Majesty the King conferred the orange scarf to Dasho Sangay Wangchug of the Royal Privy Council.

Dasho Sangay Wangchug will take over as Deputy Chairman of the Privy Council following the retirement of Dasho Nado Rinchen. The orange scarf conferred is equivalent to the rank of a deputy minister.

Dasho Bharat Tamang Yonzen, the former managing director of the Bhutan Power Corporation, was appointed as Privy Councillor.

Dzongdas were also appointed for Monggar, Trashi Yangtse and Zhemgang Dzongkhags.

Monggar Dzongda, Ugyen Sonam, formerly served as a Zimpoen Wongma or Deputy Chamberlain at the office of the Gyalpoi Zimpoen.

Zhemgang Dzongda, Harka Singh Tamang, was previously Executive Secretary at the Gelephu Thromde.

Trashi Yangtse Dzongda, Thuji Tshering, was the Executive Secretary at the Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde prior to his current appointment.

Dzongdas are appointed by His Majesty upon recommendation of the Prime Minister who receives nominations from the Royal Civil Service Commission.
