His Holiness the Je Khenpo appoints three Kudungs in Punakha

HH-KudungsHis Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed three Kudungs in Punakha on Friday. The appointment is in line with the age old tradition, coinciding with the Traditional Day of offering.

Forty one-year-old Tshechu from Punakha is the new Kudung Tshogchen. Tshechu joined Puen Thim Dratshang when he was 8 years old. After that, he joined Dechenphodrang Monastic School and studied Buddhist Philosophy. He also received Wanglung Thrue Sum from His Holiness the Je Khenpo Trulku Jigme Chhoeda and 68th Je Khenpo Thrizur Tenzin Dendup. Prior to his current appointment he served as a senior Kumba Dhodam.

Dorji Wangdi was appointed as Kudung Sha. The 42-year-old from Wangdue Phodrang joined Puen Thim Dratshang when he was 13. He also studied at Dechenphodrang Monastic School. He also received Wanglung Thrue Sum from His Holiness the Je khenpo and the 68th Je Khenpo. He served as a Gaydar (flag) Sungkhop at Tashichhodzong.

And the new Kudung Parop is 41-year-old Ugyen Lhendup from Haa. He joined Puen Thim Dratshang at the age of seven. He graduated from the Dechenphodrang Monastic School at the age of 17. Prior to his current appointment he served as Guen Zup Gi Umze at Tashichhodzong in Thimphu.
