His Holiness the Je Khenpo consecrated the main statue of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel at the Zhabdrung’s Thousand Statues Project in Thimphu, today.
The six-foot statue’s head is made of pure gold and its body of silver.
The project has 3,000 miniature Zhabdrung statues made of copper. Each statue is 15 inches tall.
The project is expected to complete next year, with 95 percent of works having been completed.
