46-year-old Tikaram Kafley, the former Gelegphu Thrompon is running once again for the Thrompon’s seat. Tikarma Kafley, a father of three, is from the Jampeling constituency. He has a Masters Degree in Technology from Bhopal University in India.
According to him, the second term will give him an opportunity to complete the developmental activities, which he could not implement in his first term. He committed to improve the services that are already put in place.
“I am very happy that people asked me the same question as I go for the campaign and they expect a lot of things as I have done my service sincerely for the past five years. I feel the expectation of the people is more than what I have performed earlier. It is the proudest moment that people are responding in a very positive way,” he said.
He said if he comes through this election, his first priority would be to speed up to provide compensation to those affected structures of Namkhaling and part of Samdrupling Demkhongs with upcoming Lap six plan in these areas and start working to providing basic amenities like roads, sewerage and drainage systems.
“The Lap has not seen any development yet. So I have this in my pledges. I should be starting the basic work here. So to do that, we are ready with the local area plan, Lap six and we are also readying ourselves to compensate the affected structures like kitchens, toilet and even some of the houses affected by the plan,” he added.
Jampelling constituency elected Tikaram Kafley to contest for the upcoming Thrompon election. He secured 83 votes over his 61-year-old opponent Harkasingh Tamang’s 34 votes. Gelegphu Thromde, with six Demkhong, has a total of 1,542 eligible voters. Jampelling Demkhong has 279 voters.
