With no decision to revise the transportation charges, for now, fuel transporters in Phuentshogling stopped working yesterday. More than 30 fuel tankers were waiting for the revision of the charges for more than two weeks. According to the transporters, the current freight charges of about Nu 15,000 to Thimphu and back is a huge loss considering the increasing price of fuel.

They first stopped transporting fuel on May 1 after the price of fuel increased by Nu 7. However, Bhutan Oil Distributors negotiated with the transporters and asked them to give time until May 16. Since the price of fuel again increased, they stopped transporting. Meanwhile, they are meeting the officials from the Bhutan Oil Distributors in Thimphu to discuss the revision of freight charges.
