Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court sentenced four men ranging from one and a half year to nine years in prison for smuggling drugs.

The judgment passed on Tuesday also ordered the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to dispose of the seized drugs in presence of officials from the relevant agencies.

More than 4,000 pieces of seized SP Plus capsules were handed over to the OAG by the court.

According to the judgment, a 30-year-old man from Paro is sentenced to nine years in prison for possessing more than 3,000 pieces of SP Plus capsules. He was arrested in September last year.

The judgment states the man is a repeated offender having three past records of similar cases.

In another case, a 33-year-old man from Wangdue Phodrang was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for possessing more than 400 pieces of SP Plus capsules.  He was arrested last month.
