Six men have been sentenced to life imprisonment for chorten vandalism. The verdict against 19 men was passed by the Monggar district court today. Our Reporter, Kuenga Tashi, says that 11 of them were given sentences ranging from one and half years to 17 years, depending on their involvement to the crime.
Two men were released without any imprisonment. They were charged only for not reporting the crime and were liable for a fine of 90 days at the most. The court order justified that they had already served more than two months in police custody.
The Office of the Attorney General has charge-sheeted 35 individuals to court from the 42 arrested so far.
