Four Bhutanese men were arrested from the New Delhi Railway Station and Shivaji Bridge Railway Station, India for alleged smuggling of gold. They were arrested by India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on October 31.
Their arrest has been confirmed by the Bhutan Embassy in New Delhi.
However, the quantity of the gold and whereabouts of the suspects are yet to be ascertained.
The Royal Bhutan Embassy in New Delhi has requested through India’s Ministry of External Affairs for details and consular access for verification.
Meanwhile, another Bhutanese man is currently in Tihar Jail in New Delhi. He was arrested from the New Delhi Railway Station on October 27 with 13 kilograms of gold.
The gold in both the cases are believed to be of foreign origin.
