The Asia Metropolitan University in Malaysia has conferred the former Education Minister, Thakur Singh Powdyel, with the Honorary Doctorate in Innovation Education. It was in recognition of his contribution to the field of education and service to the nation. The award was virtually conferred on Sunday.
“I am extremely grateful to this unique, futuristic university in Malaysia. The confirmation of this award came to me at the most auspicious time when I was engaged in a special project dedicated to the life and deeds of Bhutan’s founder-Unifier. That’s why as soon as we received the news, I dedicated it to Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in humility and prayers. This award comes to me not as an individual but to Bhutan and its citizens as a whole,” he said.
