Forest fires in Gengkhar village under Udzorong Gewog in Trashigang and Tongmajangsa Gewog in Trashi Yangtse destroyed more than 350 acres of forest. The fire started yesterday.
Due to steep terrain and windy weather, forest officials are facing difficulties to contain the forest fire. However, they are making fire lines to prevent the fire from spreading to settlements. Officials are suspecting lightning to have caused the fire yesterday, however, they are investigating it.
There is no report of any casualty.
