First session of Bhutan Children’s Parliament held The first session of Bhutan Children’s Parliament was held at the Election Commission of Bhutan’s office in Thimphu, today. The 63 members, belonging to both the Upper and Lower Houses, discussed the draft Rules of Procedure of the Bhutan Children’s Parliament 2015.

First session of Bhutan Children’s Parliament held--The proceeding and resolutions of the Parliament will be submitted to His Majesty the King, Chief Justice of Bhutan, the Speaker of National Assembly, Prime Minister, Chairperson of the National Council and Opposition Leader.

The former Chief Election Commissioner, Dasho Kunzang Wangdi graced the opening session.

First session of Bhutan Children’s Parliament held---During the opening remarks, Dasho Kunzang Wangdi said, he has a great hope that Bhutan Children’s Parliament would play a crucial role in contributing to the realization of vision of the Kings of a vibrant, just, harmonious and democratic Bhutan. He added he is hopeful that some day in the future, parliamentarians will mostly be from amongst the children who go through the children’s parliament.

The members were elected on September 12, last year.
