First Honorary Consulate of Austria inaugurated in Thimphu

After more than three decades of diplomatic ties between Austria and Bhutan, the first Honorary Consulate of Austria was inaugurated in Thimphu today. Karma Lotey was officially sworn in as the Honorary Consul of Austria to Bhutan. The Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Tandi Dorji, the ambassador of Austria to Bhutan Katharine Wieser and Austrian delegates attended the event. Diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Austria were first established in 1989, but the two countries have been working together since the 1970s.
