Fire victims receive compensation

The Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan paid over Nu. 50 million as compensation to the shopkeepers of Chamkhar in Bumthang. The compensation was paid for those who lost their properties in the three repeated fire disasters.

A total of Nu.17.6 million was paid to the shopkeepers who lost their properties during the third fire disaster on May 27  last year. Meanwhile, Nu.9.7 million was paid to shopkeepers affected by the first fire disaster in October, 2010.

About Nu. 24.9 million was paid to those shopkeepers affected by the second fire disaster, which occurred on February 18 last year.

The compensation was paid for 51 houses and goods insured with the RICBL.
