Finals of U19 national badminton championship played today in Thimphu

The finals of the U19 open national badminton championship 2020 final was played today in the capital. 60 athletes from across the country took part in the four-day championship. 

In men’s singles category, Jimba Sangay Lhendup bagged the first prize while Jamyang Tenzin came in second. In women’s singles category, Kinley Wangmo came in first and Phuntsho Dema booked the second spot.

In Men’s doubles event, Tshewang Rinzin and Jigme Thinley came in first followed by Yeshi Rabten and Chimi Dorji. In women’s doubles, Kinley Wangmo and Phuntsho Dema beat Kuenzang Choden and Namgay Dema and bagged the first prize.

In mix doubles, Yeshi Rabten and Kinley Wangmo won the gold while Tshewang Rinzin and Ishika Moktan took the silver.

The game was played in five categories. The Bhutan Badminton Federation plans to choose players from this championship for the South Asian Badminton Championship which will be held in Sri Lanka in September this year.
