Hundred and sixteen volunteers are taking part in the fifth De-Suung training programme at military training centre at Tencholing in Wangduephodrang. The volunteers include employees from government and private sectors and the graduates.
De-Suung is a training programme conceived and created by His Majesty the King.
The fifth training began today with the prayer ceremony symbolising the unity and harmony of the country and the spirit of volunteerism.
The trainees took an oath to reaffirm their pledge to serve the Tsa Wa Sum.
“The fifth batch of volunteers taking parts in such training is another milestone for the country,” said the agriculture minister, Dr.Pema Gyamtsho, who was the chief guest of the event.
During five weeks training the De-Suups will also be given first hand training on search and rescue operations, preservation and conservation of culture and traditions, and environment among others.
