Wangduephodrang district court sentenced a 30-year-old man to nine years imprisonment for voluntary manslaughter. He had stabbed a 24-year-old cab driver in the stomach suspecting the victim of having an illicit affair with his wife.

The incident took place in February this year at Dangchu in Wangduephodrang.

The victim had died the next day after the incident at the Thimphu hospital. He succumbed to massive bleeding from his stomach and liver.

The verdict also states that the convict has to pay over Nu. 160,000 to the victim’s family. It also states that the convict has to pay all the expenses incurred during the funeral.
